Based on electrochemistry and solid-state physical chemistry, we conduct a wide range of research from basics to applications, including the fusion of experiments and computer-based theoretical analysis, with regard to energy and new material-related developments.

The research theme is to elucidate the identity and essence of highly functional oxides (inorganic materials) by making full use of experimental and theoretical methods, and based on this, guidelines for improving functionality. We are working on exploration and creation of new materials.

Specifically, we are developing electrode materials for lithium ion batteries and magnesium secondary batteries as battery materials, electrolyte materials for solid electrolyte fuel cells, ferroelectric oxides used in non-volatile memories and piezoelectric materials, and high temperature superconducting oxides.
